Thinking about a major renovation or new build? Read my latest article at American Farmhouse Style magazine about when to hire a contractor, designer, and architect. Find out who you really need and who you really don't, and how to decide. Wishing for the olden days of blog posts about a lot of these same topics? Don't worry, they're still there. Summer Visitors and a Decorating Tip
Hi there! I hope you are all having a nice summer! We are having a stay-cation this year at our neighborhood pool, since we can't be away from a few of our projects at the moment. We're thinking about heading to the mountains in East Tennessee for a short trip in the fall though. If you have suggestions on where to stay or what to see in the Great Smokies, let me know! I actually do like going for walks, ... View Post

But it originally belonged to Waylon Jennings (am I right, Jan?). It's the home's original kitchen but was shabbily rehabbed in the early 2000's in order to make it more palatable for buyers who like shabby rehabs. I mean, ... View Post
Changes for Fall
It was lovely and wonderful and FALL here in Tennessee a couple of weeks ago. I even brought a plaid, wool blanket to the neighborhood pool to keep warm while our kids swam for one last time. It was idyllic. I dreamed that we'd have a fire in the fireplace and wear slippers for a reason other than the a/c being too cold. I lit a pumpkin candle. I considered buying a jumbo pumpkin pie at ... View Post
