Hi there, y’all!
Welcome, new blog followers! I know it’s not easy to figure out how to follow this blog (point the mouse at the “contact” tab), but that’ll be changing soon. And, if you have come in to the shop to visit us, thank you! You have no idea how much it means to me! I love hearing about you who are buying candles for friends’ birthdays and rugs for your kitchens or pictures for your walls. We feel very supported and thankful! I know you could go across the street and buy candles and home decor at Target but instead you are supporting local little us. Yay for you! I would like to hug you all!
(If you are trying to decide which way to go on home decor, you might enjoy this post that I wrote awhile ago called Read This Before Buying Anything. This was before we even knew we would have a shop, but the principle is the same. 🙂 )
Anyway, how about some news?
Special Event
We are designing the VIP Lounge at the Hammers and High Heels event coming up on June 2 at The Factory in Franklin. This is a fundraiser by Habitat for Humanity to build an affordable house for someone we know and love who works at the Williamson County ReStore! We have a special place in our hearts for ReStore. If you read some of our older blog posts, they come up often as our source for almost every building material or furnishing we used to renovate our current home. Anyway, if you buy tickets for the VIP Lounge, we’ll see you at the event and would love to meet you! All of our furnishings used to design the event will be for sale, and a portion of that is going back to ReStore. Hope to see you there!
Super-good sale
We’re having a big sale on cabinets between now and June 1 if you are redoing anything in your house that needs cabinets or built-ins (craft room, kitchen, bathroom, closets, mudroom, office, living room, etc). The sale is 30% off our Starmark cabinets (top of the line), and it’s your chance to get the super-deluxe cabinets for close to the price of the cheapies. All you have to do is get your estimate before then and put down your $2000 deposit toward your cabinets. You don’t have to have all your choices made with layout or finishes by June 1 to get the sale price, but if you want to, we will fit you in. We’ll also make sure to fit in anyone wanting to get started before June 1 to get the sale. Once you get your order in, you have a nice 3-8 week wait while your cabinets are being made (depending on how custom your cabinets are). So, if you want a new kitchen before the end of the summer, now is the time!
Why me? Why now?
I have my first jury duty ever coming up in two weeks! I heard that the stupid people are the ones who don’t get out of it ahead of time. Apparently that’s me. Anyone have words of wisdom or moral support? Crazy stories? Maybe there’s a good reason for this seemingly-inconvenient timing. Maybe one of you who owns several condo buildings and needs cabinets is going to have jury duty too, or someone who is famous and loves to promote small businesses. I’ll let you know how it goes. My kids really want to come and watch, but I’ve already been told that they aren’t welcome in the courtroom (which was going to be my reason for getting out of it, but the court people didn’t agree).
Okay, one last thing! We have our first seasonal decor items in the shop and now is the time to get them! I have been looking for these indoor/outdoor buntings for years and always have trouble finding them (except for the small plasticky ones at Wal-Mart). Well, I finally found them and ordered a bunch for our shop! They’re extra-large and $48 each (similar ones are $69 at Pottery Barn), so buy ’em from us and support local business!! 🙂
These are huge, at 57″ wide. They hang down 29″ in the middle. They look so cute hung from porch railings or above porch railings, below windows, on fences, etc.
And, we have cookies in the shop! Come on by and have a treat!
The gold serveware is cool too, if you’re looking for an on-trend way to serve pie or cheese or soup (and we have bottle openers, too!).
Hope you all have a good week! Hope to see you soon!
Holly…I was having issues with my leg and had been to the doctor a couple of times…celluitis maybe…a sprain maybe…called to get out of jury duty. They asked if I had included the information when I returned my card several months before. Of course not. It had just happened. Could’t excuse me.I hobbled the several blocks from jury parking to the courthouse. Found out a few days later my leg was actually BROKEN!
The process of it all is really interesting.
Oh goodness! I can’t believe they wouldn’t let you out for that! I decided to suck it up and not try to change my dates even though it was going to be hard to get away from everything (though definitely not as hard as a broken leg!). Then…I found out they don’t need me!! Yay! I am free this week! Woohoo!
You are sooooo lucky
Seriously! I feel like I got a vacation since I cleared my week! Lots of time at home cleaning and decorating!! 🙂
